Belur High School is one of the well-known Government Sponsored Higher Secondary schools in the Howrah district. This educational institution is affiliated to West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, and West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, West Bengal. It imparts education to boys only in the Upper Primary and Secondary Sections, and to both boys and girls in the Higher Secondary section. This educational institution was co-founded by reverend Pandit Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar in 1855.

Our school's drainage system recently became severely clogged with plastic bottles, wrappers, and other plastic waste, leading to sewerage overflow. This created unsanitary conditions and disrupted our learning environment. We must act NOW to prevent this from happening again!
From 28th October 2025, our entire school premises will be a 100% Plastic-Free Zone. All students, guardians, staff, and visitors are strictly prohibited from bringing any single-use plastics (less than 50 microns) or harmful plastic materials into the school campus. This includes plastic bags, bottles, wrappers, straws, and any packaging made of non-biodegradable plastic.
Plastics below 50 microns thickness are particularly harmful as they cannot be recycled and easily enter our drainage systems, waterways, and soil. A single plastic bottle can take up to 450 years to decompose! By eliminating plastic from our school, we're protecting our environment and setting an example for our community.
Please help your children prepare eco-friendly lunch boxes. Check their bags before school to ensure no plastic items are packed. Support this initiative by adopting plastic-free practices at home too. Together, we can create a sustainable future!
